History:
1933-34
1 April 33-January 34
Sartor serves as a member of the SA (Sturm Abteilung) eventually earning the SA Sportabzeichen (S.A. Sports Badge) during his service.
1 January 34-November 36
The overlap in dates between Sartor's SA and his DLV (Deutsches Luftsportsverband) service indicate that he may well have been a member of the SA's Fliegersturm which were gradually incorprorated into the DLV starting in September 1933. Sartor most likely stayed with the DLV undergoing basic flight instruction/fundamentals until joining the Luftwaffe in November of 1936.

1 June 40
On a sortie to Marseille, Gefreiter Sartor and his crew are engaged by aircraft from the French Air Forces GC III/9 over Paladru. Their aircraft is pursued to the north-east by GC III/9 Adjutant Pierre Baritel. Baritel's pursuit is successful and Sartor's damaged Ju88 is forced to land near Ruffieux at 1:45pm with the port engine feathered. Gefreiter Sartor, Feldwebel R. Müller, Unteroffizier P. Dickhut and Gefreiter H. Spiess are captured unhurt by French ground forces. Their Ju88A (8004) 9K+DM is a write-off.
On this same day presumably in light of his being posted as missing Sartor is promoted to the rank of Unteroffizier. To date Sartor had taken part in ten (10) "Feindflug" or combat missions.
2-30 June 40
Unteroffizier Sartor and his crew are held as prisoners of war by the French until finally being released on 30 June following the German-French Armistice.
